Meet Lily, a little cub with a big love for golf. When Lily is told that golf is only for grown-ups and that girls cannot be great golfers, she begins to wonder if she should give up. But one night, a magical dream takes her on an exciting journey to a world where everyone can play without being judged. Along the way, Lily discovers that golf is not about being the biggest, strongest, or best. It is about having fun, being brave, and believing in yourself. When Lily wakes up, she carries that courage with her and is ready to try again.

Serena Zhang

Serena Zhang is a student-athlete and competitive golfer from Toronto, Canada. As a young Asian girl in a sport where she has sometimes felt overlooked or underestimated, Serena has learned that belonging is not something someone else gets to decide. As a Grade 11 student at Crestwood Preparatory College with a strong interest in English, Serena uses writing to explore the experiences and perspectives of people who are not always represented in the stories we read.

Her debut book, Lily, the Little Golfer, was inspired by her own experiences as a young female golfer. Through Lily’s journey, Serena hopes to encourage girls to challenge stereotypes, believe in themselves, and to keep going even when others tell them they cannot. She hopes her story will inspire more young girls to pick up a golf club, find their place on the course, and help make golf a game where everyone feels welcome.
